A special lecture on “Nutrition Science” was conducted on 29th January 2025, at the 4th Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery Lecture Hall in conjunction with the wednesday training day programme. The event was organized under the guidance of Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces (West).
The primary aim of the lecture was to enhance the knowledge of military personnel regarding the importance of proper nutrition and balanced dietary habits. Good nutrition plays a vital role in maintaining the physical and mental well-being of soldiers, directly impacting their performance, endurance, and overall health. The session emphasized the necessity of consuming a well-balanced diet to ensure optimum fitness and preparedness for military duties.
The lecture was conducted by Major P.J.L.M Gunasekara SLAMC from the Army Base Hospital Panagoda, addressing several key topics related to dietary health, including, What is a Balanced Diet, Essential Components of a Nutritious Meal, Dietary Recommendations for Military Personnel, Hydration and its importance, and common Nutritional Deficiencies and their effects.
A total of 07 Officers and 146 Other Ranks participated in this informative session. The event provided a valuable platform for military personnel to expand their understanding of dietary principles and their application in daily life.
