Lebanon Bound GW Troops Salute Colonel of the Regiment


The 4th contingent of Army personnel, bound for Lebanon for UN Peace Keeping Missions presented a Guard of Honour to their Colonel of the Regiment as a formality practised under military traditions.

Those Gemunu Watch (GW) Regiment troops, expected to take up UN assignments in Lebanon held their passing-out parade at GW Regimental Headquarters, Kuruwita, Ratnapura. Major General S. Udumalagala, Colonel of the Regiment recently took the salute of the Lebanon, bound troops. He also addressed the troops afterwards.

The contingent consists of five officers and 71 ORs from the Gemunu Watch and they are to be teamed up with five more officers and 69 ORs from Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Corps of Engineer Services, Sri Lanka Signal Corps, Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps, Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Special Forces, Commando Regiment, Sri Lanka Electric and Mechanical Engineers, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Engineer Services Regiment and Sri Lanka Army Service Corps.

The contingent, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel A.C Lamahewa is expected to leave for Lebanon on Monday (25).
