The much-looked forward inagural first edition of the 'Kukuleganga Speed Climb 2021', enthusiastically organized by the Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Association and the Motor Racing Association of Sri Lanka, sped off this morning (11) for the second day adhering to best health practices at the fully-carpeted new racing track in the hilly areas of Kukuleganga showcasing adventurous recitation and providing a platform to push Drivers and Riders beyond their average performances.
The thrilling and exciting motor sporting event for the first time in picturesque Kukuleganga received further recognition when its brainchild, General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army this morning was there as the Chief Guest to flag off and watch the final segment. At the end, he gave away cash gifts, trophies and certificates to the achivers in motor bicycles races and motor car races. The track runs 900 m up to the mount, with 10 m in width and 60 degree gradient and consists of 7 corners, comprised of 2 sharp bends.
A few more than 120 top class riders and 80 racing drivers vied in the events for supremacy. Major General Senarath Bandara, Chief of Staff, Major General Wasantha Madola, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Chairman of Sri Lanka Army Motor Sports Association, Major General Priyanka Fernando, Director General General Staff, Mr Susara Dinal, CEO MTV/MBC Networks, officers, sponsors and a few motor sports lovers watched the final segment.
The day's Chief Guest flagged off the thrilling final spectacle after Major General Wasantha Madola Chairman, Army Motor Sports Committee extended a warm welcome to the day's Chief Guest with a host of other Senior Officers.
