Troops of the 23 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) under command to the 642 Brigade of the 64 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu conducted a ‘Shramadana’ campaign to rid garbage in the Shivam Kovil compound in Oddusudan on Monday (11) after its annual Kovil Pooja, a day before.
After the community project, Kovil priests invoked blessings on the group of Army personnel, involved in the cleaning project, composed of Brigadier D.P.J.C Jayawardena, 641 Brigade Commander, Lieutenant Colonel H.M.I.K Samaranayake, Civil Affairs Officer, 642 Brigade, the Commanding Officer of 23 VIR troops and about 25 Army personnel who contributed to the cleaning project during a special Pooja held at the Kovil on Tuesday (12).
