Kopay Civilians Offered Medical Help


Over 500 civilians in Kopay, Jaffna during a full-day medical camp together with an eye clinic on Sunday (16) received consultations, following an initiative taken by 511 Brigade in association with District 306 B 1 Kopay Lions’ Club.    

The one-day medical camp and eye clinic at Kopay Navalar Vidyalaya on Sunday (16) was supported by doctors and medical assistants of Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps as well as the medical staff at Kopay hospital.

Medicine to the patients was provided by the Kopay hospital for the purpose and another large stock of drugs was supplied by the 511 Brigade with the support of donor organizations in the south.

At the same venue, eyesight of the poor was examined and offered spectacles free of charge to civilians in the area. Eye surgeon, Dr. Mrs. Darshani Dharmadasa and four other doctors of the Jaffna Teaching Hospital assisted to check the vision of civilians.

300 pairs of spectacles were distributed free on the day while some patients were given dates for eye surgeries. The 511 Brigade has made arrangements to provide necessary lenses and Rs. 2500/= to each, prior to their surgery.

Over 500 civilians received treatment at the medial camp and the eye clinic, coordinated by Jaffna District Coordinator of the Lions’ Club Dr V. Thiyagarajah and Civil Affairs Officer 511 Brigade Major Lasantha Jayasuriya.
