An awareness programme on commercially viable cultivation of Gherkins in Kilinochchi areas, was conducted recently for the benefit of officers and other ranks serving the Divisions, Brigades and all formation at the Nelumpiyasa auditorium of the Security Force Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).
H.J.S Condiments (Hayleys Agriculture) Limited, a leading exporter of processed and semi-processed vegetables and fruits from Sri Lanka, volunteered to help the Army by way of dissemination of information and knowledge on cultivation of different crops in areas, served by the Army.
The awareness programme, organized on the instructions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), was supported by a team of 7 officials from Hayleys Agriculture and a representative from the Sanasa Bank who spoke of loan facilities made available for such cultivations.
