KLN Troops Bust Anti-Social & Illegal Activities & Help Police to Arrest More than 40 Suspects

Alert Kilinochchi troops coordinating with respective Policemen, officials of Department of Wildlife Conservation, Department of Forest Conservation, Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, Excise Department and other relevant authorities within a period of almost one month (March 2021- April 2021) have carried out raids against production of moonshine, sand mining, illegal logging, smuggling of cannabis and narcotics, transport of illegally felled satinwood, palu and other valuable trees and other anti-social activities.

Troops have prevented 28 attempts for illegal sand-mining and seized 48 cubes of sand and apprehended 8815 liters of fermented spirits (goda), used for brewing illicit liquor, 35 liters of fully distilled illicit liquor, 100 units of excavating equipment, 185.035 kgs of smuggled Cannabis, 100 satinwood and palu timber logs and 60 drug capsules, along with more than 40 suspects who were taken into custody during the same period.

All those operations were launched to be in line with the government's all out war against anti-social activities and elements whose actions have in turn brought about disastrous consequences upon their families, society and the environment at large.

On the instructions of the Commander of the Army, SFHQ-KLN troops as per guidelines given by Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi fully collaborated with relevant agencies and conducted those joint operations.

Troops continue their monitoring process against those anti-social elements and liaise closely with relevant agencies by sharing intelligence, movements of those elements and their clandestine operations.
