With the objective of helping the youth to be productive and employment-oriented, the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) has introduced a novel project, named NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) in Kilinochchi area in order to provide updated information on availability of vocational training opportunities and employment openings.
Troops of the 12 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) and the 571 Brigade serving under the Security Force Headquarters-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), considering those aspects, began to launch an awareness campaign on Friday (18) to educate young school leavers in this direction by conducting the first leg of the project with a lecture.
The lecture, delivered by Mr Kugan of National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) at the Harmony Centre at Kilinochchi, attracted 16 youngsters who come under the NEET category.
The awareness programme, organized under the guidance of Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander SFHQ-KLN is to continue from one area to the other in Kilinochchi.
It is believed that the programme would assist the young under NEET category to explore their possibilities for further enhancement of employment opportunities.
