In response to a request made by undergraduates in the Faculty of Agriculture and Engineering at the University of Jaffna in Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi troops donated their blood for patients at Thelippalai Cancer Hospital on Saturday (26) during an arrangement that got underway at the Kilinochchi District Hospital in close cooperation with blood bank authorities.
Theippalai medical officers have turned to the Kilinochchi Blood Bank for supply of much-needed blood in that hospital prompting Kilinochchi hospital staff to stage this donation project within the shortest possible time period with the support of Jaffna University students since lives of those cancer patients were at risk without adequate blood supplies.
On being informed, Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, Commander, Security Forces-Kilinochchi requested Major General B. P. S de Silva, the General Officer Commanding 57 Division to assist in this regard.
