Kilinochchi Troops Build One More New House for a Needy Family in Krishnapuram

A collective effort of the Kilinochchi troops and combined contributions of Army troops serving under the Security Force HQ-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) resulted in the construction of one more new house for a needy family as part of the SFHQ-KLN's community project.

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, giving a true push to the Army Commander-initiated house construction project for needy families on Monday (5) vested an Army-built new home to one Mr. Ariyadas Ramesh at No 3630 in Krishnapuram, Kilinochchi as his family was found leading a hand to mouth life without a shelter.

The gesture, meant to uplift their living standards as well as promotion of government’s reconciliation process was wholeheartedly supported financially by the Commander 573 Brigade, Brigadier Manoj Madurapperuma and Officers of the 573 Brigade while manpower plus technical assistance for its construction was provided by 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops under the close supervision of its Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Shaminda Wijesinghe.

In addition, 573 Brigade troops and 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops managed to provide required household furniture, appliances, dry ration packs, fresh vegetables and stationery packs for children’s use.

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces-Kilinochchi as the Chief Guest at the house-warming occasion highly appreciated the troops who completely contributed to the construction of this house. A gathering representative of Army builders was present during the house-warming.

The inaugural house-warming was attended by the General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division, Major General Priyantha Jayawardana, senior officers in the SFHQ-KLN, Grama Seva official in Krishnapuram Mr. Sivarasa Jadukulam, Rural Development Officer - Krishnapuram Mrs Sashidaran Sudarshani and several others, adhering all Covid-19 preventive measures.
