Kilinochchi Commander amid Military Formalities Relinquishes Office

A ceremonial Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, presented by troops of the 24 Gemunu Watch (GW) Regiment and 9 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) greeted Major General Ajith Kariyakarawana, the outgoing Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi when he formally marked the relinquishment of his office on Tuesday (10) in accordance with military traditions.

During the military ceremony, the outgoing Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi, symbolizing the formal relinquishment of office, handed over the official flag of the SFHQ-KLN to the newly-appointed SF Commander, Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana at the parade ground.

The outgoing Commander placed his signature in a formal document to symbolize the relinquishment of his office at Kilinochchi to assume duties shortly as the new Deputy Chief of Staff.

Major General Kariyakarawana in his farewell speech commended excellent services and unfailing support of all the officers and other rankers during his office at Kilinochchi and urged the same be extended to his successor in the future.

General Officers Commanding 57, 65 and 66 Divisions, Commander, Forward Maintenance Area – Kilinochchi (FMA-KLN), Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks attended the event.
