Kilinochchi Ceremony Salutes Fallen War Heroes

A Ranaviru (War Heroes) commemoration ceremony took place at the War Heroes’ monument in Kokavil, Kilinochchi on Tuesday (10) where Mr Reginald Cooray, Governor for Northern Province attended as the Chief Guest. 

Mrs Saraswathi Mohanadan, Assistant Chief Secretary at Northern Provincial Council, together with Major General Amal Karunasekara, Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi welcomed the Chief Guest before a two-minute silence in honour of their memory was observed. A brief religious ceremony transferred merits on fallen War Heroes afterwards and all those present lined up to place floral wreaths at the memorial after the religious segment. 

Senior officers of the Police in the Northern Province, Commander Northern Naval Area, Director Ranaviru Seva Authority, General Officers Commanding 55 and 64 Divisions, Navy and Air Force officers and a large gathering attended the event. 

To coincide with the commemoration, a group of 30 school children at Kilinochchi Central College were given book parcels by the SFHQ-KLN. 

The Chief Guest in a brief address to the occasion recalled the importance of invaluable services of fallen War Heroes for restoration of durable peace in the country.
