Sri Lanka Army Engineers built 36 new houses, each worth about Rs 125,000/= at Thirumurukkandi, Kilinochchi area for resettlement of displaced people in the Manik Farm relief village, were formally handed over to the recipients during a brief ceremony, headed by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander Security Forces, Kilinochchi (SFHQ - KLN).
Army Engineers who undertook the construction of 80 houses of the project within a matter of few months completed 36 of them with the coordination of government officials and agencies.
Recipients of those new houses were warmly welcomed and entertained to refreshments in accordance with Tamil traditions after relevant documents and keys of those houses were delivered to them on Wednesday (18).
SFHQ - KLN Commander on the same occasion did not however forget to thank the Army Engineers for their tireless dedication and cooperation for the construction of those houses during the said ceremony.
Earlier on the same day (18), Major General Perera spoke to all General Officers Commanding (GOC), Brigade Commanders and Unit Commanders serving the SFHQ - KLN at the SFHQ - KLN auditorium.
