A high-level delegation of the National Defence College (NDC) of Kenya, currently in Sri Lanka on a six-day familiarization tour, called at the Army Headquarters Monday (20) morning with a view to meeting the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva and senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army.
The thirteen-member delegation, led by Brigadier A.K Mulata, Senior Directing Staff at the Kenyan National Defence College, is comprised of two more Brigadiers General, three Colonels, one Lieutenant Colonel, one Group Captain, one Major, three civil officials and one lady official and scheduled to call on the Commander of the Air Force, Secretary to Ministry of Defence, Governor of the Central Bank, Commander of the Navy, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Secretary to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - West, Commander of Eastern Naval area and a few other state officials.
Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva after extending a warm welcome to the visiting Brigadier A.K Mulata at the former’s office, had a cordial exchange of views with the visiting Senior Directing Staff (Air) at the NDC in the company of the accompanying Senior Students’ Officer.
Discussions centered on course materials, routinely taught in the Kenyan NDC and corresponding Sri Lankan Military Training Schools with special focus on post-conflict involvements and military training modules to suit fast changing world trends and military scenarios in the world.
Exchange of mementos towards the end of the meeting brought Brigadier A.K Mulata’s meeting with the Commander of the Army to an end.
All the delegates in the team afterwards sat together at the Conference Hall to receive a full briefing on the Sri Lanka Army from the Director Training at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier Aruna Jayasekara.
Brigadier A.K Mulata, a senior Kenya Air Force officer in the Kenyan Defence Forces with a service record of about 35 years, is currently the Senior Directing Staff at the NDC in Kenya which trains military and government officials from Kenya and the region and the training at NDC exposes issues of policy and strategy, international relations, diplomacy, conflict management, international law, national and international security, etc.
