KDU Annual Seminar Sessions to Begin on Thursday (8)

The annual International Research Conference -2016 of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) on ‘Professional Integration for a Secure Nation’ will get underway during Sept 8 - 9 for the 9th consecutive year at the KDU.

It was announced during a Media briefing, held on Monday (6) at Ministry of Defence Media Centre, Colombo 3. Rear Admiral J.J Ranasinghe, Vice Chancellor, Major General J.R Kulathunga, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr J.M.K.B Jayasekara, IRC Chair, Dr M.M Jayawardana, Dean, Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities, Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne, Director Media Centre MOD conducted the briefing.

The inauguration of the conference will be enriched by the key note address by the Hon Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development, Mr Sagala Rathnayake. Following the inauguration, the main plenary session on defence and strategic studies will be conducted. On the afternoon of the first day, parallel plenary sessions under each discipline will be conducted. These parallel plenary sessions will be enriched by globally eminent professionals and scientists from Australia, USA, UK, Canada, Jamaica, Germany, China, Sweden, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives etc.

Nine parallel technical sessions for oral and poster presentations allow nearly 250 local and foreign presenters to share their knowledge and discuss their research findings. This year's conference received more than 450 research papers. After a rigorous double blind review process only 295 were accepted offering 212 orals and 83 posters. The oral presentations will be conducted in four technical sessions on the second day of the conference and taking place in parallel. Each paper presentation will be evaluated and the Best oral presentation and Best poster presentation of each session will be awarded.
