Katina Pinkama in Jaffna Naga Vihara Held on Grand Scale

Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) assisted the conduct of the annual Katina Pinkama at Sri Naga Vihara, Jaffna as in previous years during November 5-6 under the patronage of Ven. Meegahajandure Siri Vimala Thero, incumbent.
 
Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-J assisted the event in myriad ways with the support of SFHQ-J troops.
 
A colourful pageant comprised of cultural performances of Udarata (up country), Pahatharata (low country), Sabaragamuwa and Jaffna with elephants, walked the main streets of Jaffna city Wednesday evening. Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Jaffna schools, dancing institutes and professionals contributed to the conduct of the procession.
 
Religious leaders, Governor for Northern Province Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri, District Secretary for Jaffna Mr. Sundaram Arumainayagam, Major General Udaya Perera, government officials and a large crowd of civilians witnessed the event at the temple premises.
 
An all night Pirith chanting at the Naga Vihara followed Heel Daana (alms giving) on Thursday morning. Katina cheevara (robe) was brought in procession from the Civil Affairs and Public Relations Office to the temple.
