As of this morning (16), a total of 2386 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. The majority of 338 are from Kandy District. Among them, the majority 33 were from Kandy town area, 32 from Menikhinna, 27 from Thalathuoya and 24 from Katugastota, states the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).
Similarly, 321 positive cases were reported from Kalutara District including 87 from Panadura south, 45 from Bulathsinhala, 39 from Baduraliya, 25 from Panadura North areas and others from different areas in district.
Meanwhile, 288 patients were reported from Nuwara Eliya District, including the majority 173 from Nuwara Eliya town area, 37 from Pundalu Oya, 21 from Lindula area and others from different areas in Nuwara Eliya.
Accordingly, in the past 24 hours, 947 patients were reported from Kandy, Kalutara and Nuwra Eliya Districts. Other 1437 patients were reported as follows: 277 from Colombo, 184 from Gampaha, 181 from Kurunegala, 104 from Matara, 98 from Anuradhapura, 94 from Ratnapura District, 82 from Galle, 81 from Puttalam,72 from Hambantota, 64 from Monaragala, 41 from Ampara, 33 from Jaffna, 26 from Badulla District, 23 from Kegalle District, 19 from Batticaloa District, 12 from Mannar , 11 from Polonnaruwa, 10 from Vavuniya , 4 from Kilinochchi, and 3 from Mullaittivu District.
