JORDANIAN "FARA-3" VESSEL WRECKAGE USED BY TIGER TERRORISTS CAPTURED

MULLAITTIVU: THE JORDANIAN “FARA-3” vessel that became defunct in the seas off MULLAITTIVU, about two years ago and subsequently high-jacked and towed away by Tiger terrorists before MULLAITTIVU and KILINOCHCHI fell into Army hands was brought under the Army troops Thursday (14) afternoon following a series of exchange of gunfire between ground troops and terrorists.

Tiger terrorists ever since the“FARA-3” was captured used it as a firing pad after creeping into it and converting it into a terrorist hideout. The ship wreckage was also gradually dismantled by Tiger terrorists and taken away for production of various metal accessories for the LTTE organization.

However, the wreckage with special antennas and other equipment functioned as a gathering point for Sea Tigers over the past two years.

Terrorists had also been extensively firing towards the troops at ground level ever since they converted the ship to a terrorist hideout.

The foreign crew on the ship were rescued by the ICRC at that stage and sent off to JORDAN after it was found that the ship could not be salvaged.
