With the intention of promoting reconciliation and goodwill among communities in the Jaffna peninsula, the troops serving the Security Force HQ- Jaffna joined the annual 'Deewali' commemoration at Maruthanarmadam Aanjaneyar Kovil in Jaffna on Thursday (4).
Major General Jagath Kodithuwakku, Commander Security Forces-Jaffna graced the Pooja ceremony at the Kovil as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 51 Division. The auspicious Pooja ceremony celebrated by Hindus across the globe was attended by many Jaffna devotees.
Troops to add significance to the occasion distributed gift parcels among school students and a group of blind people in the area as part of their community service.
Religious dignitaries, Brigade Commander, 511 Brigade, Commanding Officers of respective Battalions, Government Officials were also present at the ceremony.
