Jaffna Troops Educated on 'Drug Prevention'

The Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) organized a lecture session on the topic ‘Drug Addiction and Prevention from such Habitual Acts’ with a view to educating Army personnel on Sunday (March 19) at the SFHQ-J premises.

The programme was initiated under the guidance of Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander, SF - J. The Chief Inspector W.K Ruwan Kumara, Officer In Charge (OIC) at Katunayake Airport Police Unit, together with the Inspector of Police N.M Lakshman Edirimanna, OIC, Training at Police Narcotic Bureau contributed to the programme that went for nearly 8 hours with the participation of 27 Officers and 300 Other Ranks.

Towards the end, Colonel Nilantha Wijesinghe, Colonel Coordinating, SF - J, presented tokens of appreciation for both lecturers on behalf of the Commander, SF - J.

Meanwhile, the same lecture session was conducted on the next day (Mar 20) at the 55 Infantry Division premises on the directions of Major General Prasanna Gunarathne, General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division. It was attended by 29 Officers and 410 Other Ranks.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with arrangements at both occasions.
