Adding their contribution to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, the Forward Maintenance Area (FMA) under the Security Force - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) organized a New Year festival on Saturday (16) at ‘Polsewana’ playground in Jaffna.
Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, SFHQ-J graced the event as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Brigadier N Koswatta, Commander, FMA -N who organized the event, filled with traditional New Year games and fun-making events.
Special care was taken to symbolize similar features in both Sinhala and Tamil culture.
The New Year festival focused largely on soldiers both male and female who stayed away from their homes on official commitments during the festival period.
Troops of the SF-J took part in many events and exhibited their cultured ties among them.
Major General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander, SF-J, Senior Government officials in Jaffna, senior military officers, senior Police officers participated in the event as guests.
