Jaffna Teachers Meet Their Counterparts at Colombo Bishop &;amp; Ladies Colleges

Members of the teaching staff at Jaffna St Benedict College, following an initiative taken by the Army, enjoyed the hospitality of their counterparts, working in Colombo Ladies’ College and Bishop College during a two-day excursion they made to the south.

Organized and coordinated by the Directorate of Psychological Operations at Army Headquarters on the instructions of the Commander of the Army, the tour was arranged with the guidance of Major General R. Ratnasingham, Master General Ordnance at the Army Headquarters.

The programme in Colombo took them to places of tourist interest, including Colombo Harbour, Museum, Parliament, Nelum Pokuna, Kochchikade St Anthony’s Church, Galle Face, etc before they exchanged cordial views with teachers in the south.

The project, designed to further broaden bonds of goodwill and understanding between Sinhala and Tamil teachers, had been enthusiastically supported by Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, Director, Directorate of Psychological Operations at Army Headquarters.

Teachers in the South warmly welcomed the visiting counterparts and facilitated their overnight stay in respective schools and other dormitories.
