Jaffna Security Forces Headquarters Marks Its Birthday


Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), the premier military establishment in the North, marked its 16th anniversary with a series of multi religious observances.
    
A Catholic mass was organized on the 17th June at St. Marie’s Church, Oddahapulam, to be followed by prayers at the Jumma Muslim mosque in Jaffna, the same evening.  

On the 18th morning, officers and other ranks serving at the SFHQ-J attended a Pooja at Mavaddipuram Hindu temple. The same evening, a Bodhi Pooja was organized at the Bodhi premises in Palaly SFHQ–J Headquarters premises.

The apex of the anniversary ceremony took place with wreath-laying at War Hero Monument at Palaly. Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, SFHQ-J and senior officers paid tribute to fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’ sovereignty. A Guard of Honour was accorded to the Commander SFHQ-J before he visited soldiers undergoing treatment in the hospital. He wished them a fast recovery and distributed gifts parcels among inmates. The programme culminated with a grand musical show held at Palaly on Thursday evening.
