Troops serving the 16 Gemunu Watch (GW) of 515 Brigade under Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), offered free meals and refreshments to over 1000 devotees who participated in the Theru festival, held during Feb 14 - 28 at Keeramalai Naguleshwaram Kovil in connection with the Maha Shiva Rathri festival.
On the same day (27) troops serving 11 Sri Lanka Light Infantry and 11 Sinha Regiment organized two such free meal distributions at Nachchi Amman Kovil at Araly and Shivam Kovil at Sathumalai on account of the holy day.
Meanwhile, on directions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT), troops serving 18 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) of 68 Division supported the conduct of a religious ceremony on account of Maha Shiva Rathri at Puthukkuddiyirippu Shivan Kovil premises.
During the event, the main gate of Shivan Kovil, built by 18 VIR soldiers was declared opened by Major General Jagath Dias, Commander SFHQ-MLT.
General Officer Commanding, 68 Division, 681, 682 Brigade Commanders, senior officers, other ranks and a large gathering of devotees attended the occasion.
