Jaffna Commander Makes His Formal Visit to 55 Div

Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) called at the 55 Division Headquarters on Tuesday (04) as a formality upon assumption of his duties.

The visiting Commander was warmly welcomed by Major General Nirmal Dharmarathna, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 55 Division on arrival. In accordance with military formalities, a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour of the troops of the 1 Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment saluted the new Jaffna Commander in the premises.

The visiting Commander was afterwards invited to plant a mango sapling at the 55 Division Headquarter premises to mark his visit to the 55 Division Headquarters.

Later, the visiting Commander, Security Force - Jaffna (SF-J) was updated on the role and responsibilities of the 55 Division by the GOC at the auditorium.

Thereafter, the Jaffna Commander addressed Officers and Other Ranks of 551, 552 and 553 Brigades who had come to the 55 Division Headquarters.

At the end of the programme, he attended an all-rank lunch and shared a few thoughts with the gathering. Before his departure, the Commander, SF - J placed his signature in the Visitors’ Book as a symbol of memory.
