Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander Security Forces -Jaffna attended the final encounter in the “Dan Pudiyavidiyal”, Football Tournament as the Chief Guest at the invitation of Mr S.S Kuhanathan, Chairman of ASK Media (PVT) Ltd.
It is organized annually by Dan TV. The final tussle got underway on Monday (Jan 16) at the Alfred Duraiappa Stadium in Jaffna in the presence of a gathering of football fans.
The Tournament continued from 29th October 2022 to 16th January 2023 and St Mary’s Football team emerged the champions. The Chief Guest awarded the trophies, medals and shields to the champions and the runner-up team.
Football Teams representing the Jaffna district competed in the tournament and displayed their skills and performances. A gathering of civil invitees attended the event, together with a large crowd of spectators.
Meanwhile, in response to an invitation of Principals of Jaffna St Henry’s College and its affiliated Ilavalai Convent Maha Vidyalayam, Major General Swarna Bothota, Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna attended the annual Inter-House Athletic Meet as the Chief Guest on Wednesday (Jan 18) and awarded laurels to the participants at St Henry’s College playground.
A gathering of distinguished invitees, including Rev Father C.G Jeyakumar, Dean of Ilavalai Deanery, Dr K. Ketheeswaran, Senior Lecturer of the Sports Science Unit, University of Jaffna, Professor James Robinson, University of Jaffna, students and parents attended the event, which was coloured with several aesthetic feats.
