The visiting Head of the UN Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Ms Agnes Asekenye Oonyu on Tuesday (21) during a meeting with Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Security Force Commander - Jaffna at Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), received an update on various roles and tasks, being carried out by Army troops in the peninsula as at present.
Matters, related to land acquisition, development roles, different challenges, security arrangements, distortions of the truth, reintegration of former combatants, house construction and scheduled resettlement and development plans, were taken up for discussion during this meeting.
The visiting OCHA official thanked the Army for its multifaceted roles in the peninsula and assured UN support for all the projects before she departed, together with her deputy.
