Jaffna Commander Calls on Religious Dignitaries in Jaffna

Major General Sujeewa Senarath Yapa, the newly-appointed Security Forces Commander-Jaffna with a view to receiving blessings of religious dignitaries for the first time after his assumption of duties in Jaffna called on them on Tuesday (28).

At first, the new Commander attended Buddhist religious observances at the Sri Naga Viharaya in the heart of Jaffna town and offered 'Pirikara' to the chief incumbent, Ven. Meegahajandure Sri Vimaladeva Thero.

Afterwards, he called on the Bishop of Jaffna Diocese Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin B Gnanapragasam and subsequently had audience with Nallai Thirugnanasambanthar Adheenam, Kurukkal Srilasri Somasundhara Dheshika Gnasambantha Swami, all of them invoked blessings on his new office.

Few Staff Officers of the Security Forces Jaffna accompanied him during those courtesy visits.
