Jaffna-Colombo (A-9) Bus Service Conducts its Test Run

HERALDING A NEW ERA of Sri Lanka’s post-war revival, a total of five buses bound for COLOMBO from JAFFNA and vice versa with two hundred and ten passengers on both ways undertook their test journey Wednesday (22) morning and met one another at MEDAWACHCHIYA on the way.

Five buses started off from the premises, close to Jaffna Doraippa stadium had two hundred and ten Colombo bound passengers for the maiden journey.

Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapakse, Minister of Transport and Highway Lasantha Alagiyavanna, Minister Douglus Devananda, Govenor for Northern Province, Major General G.A Chandrasiri, District Secretary for Jaffna K. Ganesh, Commander, Security Forces Jaffna and several others were present for the inauguration of the test service after an absence of more than two decades.  The buses commenced their journey at 11.00 a.m amidst cheers and applause.
