Members of the 17 Battalion Gemunu Watch (GW) serving the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) at the request of the Kayts Base Hospital and the Jaffna Blood Bank in the Jaffna Teaching Hospital donated blood on Wednesday (25) to mark its 9th Anniversary at the Kayts Hospital premises for the use of patients in Jaffna.
During the humanitarian project, Lieutenant Colonel Lakshan Perera, Commanding Officer, 63 Officers and Other Rankers of the 17 GW offered their blood for the benefit of patients in Jaffna.
Dr. Y. Jadundanan, with his staff after giving their assistance to the arrangement, carried the collected blood stock to the Jaffna Teaching Hospitalwith the assistance of medical staff of the Base Hospital Kayts and the Blood Bank at the Teaching Hospital - Jaffna.
With the blessings of the Commander of the Army, the SFHQ-J, commanded by Major General Darshana Hettiarachi has approved the SOS requirement.
