Jaffna Area Progress Review Meeting Held on Extensive Coconut Plantation

Chairman and senior officials of the Coconut Development Board arrived at the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on Tuesday (10) in order to review the progress of the ongoing coconut plantation project, initiated by the SFHQ-J.

The officials of the Coconut Development Board expressed their full satisfaction on the progress of the project and agreed to provide more coconut saplings to achieve the target of 100,000 plants by the end of year 2018.

The SFHQ-J took to cultivation of coconut saplings about six months back and approximately 10,000 saplings have already been planted under the project.

A parallel project is also in progress in the SFHQ-J area at present to plant 5 coconut saplings in each private land in order to stimulate people to cultivate them in their personal compounds.
