Security Force Headquarters Wanni, Kilinochchi and Central commenced their first working day, adhering to customary formalities and brief ceremonies held at respective Headquarters, in parallel with the event at Army Headquarters.
Hoisting National flag and SFHQ flags at the beginning marked the event. Afterwards, observance of one minute silence to remember fallen War Heroes took place. State service commitment pledge was then read, followed by reading of the New Year- 2014 message of Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Army.
Events were conducted under the guidance of Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W), Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ–KLN) and Major General U.A.B Medawela, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Central (SFHQ-C) at respective locations.

Meanwhile, Commander SFHQ-W, together with senior officers visited ‘Abimansala’ wellness resort at Anuradhapura and distributed gift parcels among War Heroes after close interactions wishing them a happy New Year.

Commander, SFHQ- KLN visited the Army ward at Kilinochchi Hospital after the programmes at this headquarters were over.

Meanwhile, the SFHQ- C organized an alms-giving ceremony together with a Pirith chanting to bestow merits on the Army and country in general.
