Ipalogama Ranajayapura Netball Players Emerge Runners-Up in All Island Tournament

 
The under 16 Netball team at Ipalogama- Ranajayapura Maha Vidyalaya who took part in the recent All-Island Milo Netball Tournament at Hambantota D.A Rajapaksa Ground, emerged all-island runners-up in the tournament.
 
Ranajayapura Maha Vidyalaya, situated in the Ranajayapura tri-service housing complex at Ipalogama, Thalawa, consists largely of children belonging to tri-service personnel and since of recent times those children were showing exceptional skills for sports.
 
On being informed of their preparations to compete in the first-ever All Island Milo Netball Tournament at Hambantota, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, directed the administration at Ipalogama housing complex to see to their requirements in connection with their travel to Hambantota.
 
Accordingly, the 12-member female Netball players with their coaches, was provided gratis transport to Hambantota and back by the Army as per directions of the Commander.
 
A reception to welcome those all island runners-up upon their return from Hambantota, took place at the Ranajayapura Maha Vidyalaya, attended by a large gathering of parents, well-wishers, education authorities and teachers.
 
Delivering a brief speech to the reception ceremony, the Principal at Ranajayapura Maha Vidyalaya profusely thanked the Commander of the Army for the initiative he himself took, having made a bus available to the team for passage to Hambantota at short notice and praised the Army’s support at all times in connection with school sports.
