International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Basic Course (Officers) - No. 34 Concludes at IPSOTSL

The certificate awarding ceremony of the International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Basic Course (Officers) - No 34 commenced at the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) on 07 March 2024. Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP USP ndu psc, Adjutant General, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

The course was conducted under the directions of the Directorate of Legal Services, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (Dte of Leg Svcs HR & HL) from 19 February 2024 to 07 March 2024. The course consisted of 37 Officers from Tri-Services and 1 Officer from Special Task Force.

The course aimed to enhance the knowledge in Human Rights, Humanitarian Law, and their real-world implications. The curriculum covered fundamental lessons in these areas. A key focus was on developing the instructional capabilities of each participant, with the goal of creating skilled Officer Instructors for the Army. The course was enriched by visiting experts and intellectuals, such as the Armed and Security Forces Programme Advisor of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Major General C. A. Rajapaksha RSP, the Commandant of IPSOTSL, Colonel N.S Nallaperuma USP ndc, Director Legal Services, Human Rights & Humanitarian Law and a few Senior Officers were also present at the ceremony.
