The annual Inter Regiment Power-Lifting, Body-Building and Weight-Lifting championship got underway during 1-2 October at the Army Indoor Gymnasium at Panagoda.
The Championship for Weight-Lifting was won by the Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) and the women’s Championship went to the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC). Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) secured the runner-up slot.
In Power-Lifting, Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) emerged as Champions and the SLAGSC was adjudged the runner-up.
In Body-Building category, Gemunu Watch secured the Championship and the SLAGSC was pushed to the runner-up slot.
The Chief Guest for the finals and the award ceremony was Major General D.R Dharmasiri, Director Army Research & Development Branch. He gave away certificates, medals and trophies to the winners at the end of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Lance Corporal Y.D.I Kumara of SLAGSC (Best Weight-Lifter), Private K.S.M Chandrathilaka of SLAGSC (Best Woman Weight-Lifter), Sergeant A.K.S Pradeep of SLSR (Best Power-Lifter) and Staff Sergeant Y.G Amila of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (Best Body-Builder) accordingly received awards.
