Inter Regiment Swimming and Water Polo Championship - 2024 Concludes with Thrilling Competition

The Inter Regiment Swimming and Water Polo Championship – 2024, organized by the Sri Lanka Army Aquatic Sports Committee, was held from 29 March 2024 to 03 April 2024, at the APTS Swimming pool.

Major General S.W.M. Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Commander, Security Forces – West, graced the occasion as the chief guest at the invitation of Major General A.C.A. De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, the Provost Marshal and Chairman of Army Aquatic Sports Committee.

A total of 259 contestants representing 14 Regiments of the Army participated in the championship. Notably, the Chairman of the Army Aquatic Sports Committee also participated in the competition along with 8 Officers.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the competition. The following individual and team performances were commended during the awarding ceremony.

Swimming Women’s Open – Champions: 1 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps

Swimming Women’s Open – Runners Up: 3 (V) Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps

Best Swimmer Men’s Open: Lance Corporal R.M.N. Ranathunga of Gajaba Regiment

Best Swimmer Women’s Open: Signalman D.R. Miles of Sri Lanka Signal Corps

Best Swimmer Men’s Novices: Trooper S.D.D.L. Kumarasinghe of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps
