Inter Regiment Squash Championship - 2018 Ends with Better Records

Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake graced as the Chief Guest in the award ceremony of the finals of the Inter Regiment Squash Championship on Monday (24) at Panagoda Indoor Stadium.

The day’s Chief Guest was welcomed by Major General Jagath Gunawardena, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Squash Committee.

Traditional oil lamp was lit by the Chief Guest and other distinguished guests.

Commander of the Army witnessed the Officers (Open) final match and Men’s (Open) final match in the final tussle.

Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Squash team won the Women’s (Novices) Championship and the Runner Up was Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps Squash team.

Gajaba Regiment won the Men’s (Novices) Championship and the Runner Up were Gemunu Watch Squash team.

Open Championship (Male) of this year were Gajaba Regiment and Runner Up were Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

Commander of the Army and other distinguished guests awarded trophies, medals and certificates to the winners.

Brigadier J.C Gamage, Major General Dampath Fernando, Chief of Staff and Lieutenant Colonel S.H.P.D Thilakaratne won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively of the age 50 plus category event and received the awards from the Commander of the Army.

Subsequently, Commander of the Army awarded special honor award and cash price to well-known Mr M.L.K Cooray of Sri Lanka Squash (retd).

The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Squash Committee awarded token of memory to the Commander of the Army followed by vote of thank.
