The Inter Regiment Rowing Competition 2019, competed by teams of the Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE), Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC), Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), Gajaba Regiment (GR), Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR), Sri Lanka Army Ordinance Corps (SLAOC), Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) and Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) got underway at Diyawanna Oya waters during August 22 - 23.
Sri Lanka Signal Corps (SLSC) teams (male and female) won the overall championship winning 5 Gold medals (men’s team - 2 & women’s team - 3). Similarly, SLSC woman rowers won 2 Silver medals and 1 Bronze medal.
Sri Lanka Light Infantry (male) and Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (women) teams were the runners-up in the tournament.
Brigadier N.K Wadugodapitiya, Deputy Commandant, Defence Services Command and Staff College attended the inauguration and flagged off the event.
