Inter Regiment Cricket Tournament Concludes

The finals of the Inter Regiment Cricket Tournament (‘A’ group) and the prize-giving ceremony of the tournament took place this afternoon (14) at Panagoda cricket grounds. 

Major General R.V Udawatte, Director General Financial Management at the invitation of the Army Cricket Committee attended the prize-giving ceremony as the Chief Guest. 

Towards end of the tournament, the Major General R.V Udawatte gave away trophies and certificates to the winners in the series. Chairman, Army Cricket Committee, Major General A.K.P Wickremasinghe also joined the distribution of prizes to the winners. 

A total of 24 cricket teams, (10 in ‘A’ group & 14 in ‘B’ group) belonging to all the Regiments vied in the tournament that began a few weeks ago until the finalists, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) and Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps (SLAOC) were selected to face the final tussle this afternoon, in which the cricketers in the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police Regiment won the day.
    
Sri Lanka Artillery, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Sri Lanka Engineers, Corps of Engineer Services, Sri Lanka Army Service Corps, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police and Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps cricketers took part in the tournament.

National cricketers, Upul Chandana and Chaminda Vass too joined the presentation of trophies and certificates to the winners.
