Inter Regiment Chess Championship Won by SLAMC Players

The awarding ceremony of the Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Chess Championship - 2022 got underway on 9 December at Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) Regimental HQ auditorium at Panagoda, where the finals were held.

Major General Deepal Pussella, Commander, Security Forces - West, graced the event as the Chief Guest during the awarding ceremony at the invitation of the Chairman, Army Chess Committee, Major General Mahinda Jayawardena, Colonel Commandant, Corps of Engineers, and the Chief Field Engineer.

The five-day long Inter Regiment Chess Championship (individual and teams) was competed by 130 Chess players of 15 Regiments at Panagoda from 05 to 09 December.

After the finals, Major General Deepal Pussella was invited to award trophies, medals and certificates to the winners and champions, together with Major General Thusitha Silva, Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Major General M. K Jayawardena, Chief Field Engineer and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Engineer.

The Sri Lanka Army Medical Corps (SLAMC) Chess players won this year’s Inter Regiment Chess Championship and the 2nd place was won by players of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment (SLLI). Gajaba Regiment players secured the third place.
