The Inter-Battalion Drama Competition of Women's Corps (SLAWC) was held at the Sri Lanka Armoured corps auditorium, Colombo 15 on Friday (31). Maj General Ubaya Medawela, the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women's Corps, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The panel of judges was comprised of Mr.Wijerathna Pathiraja - Lecturer in Drama and theater of University of Colombo and a member of State Drama Sub Committee, Mr. Sugath Watagedara - Lecturer in University of Visual and Performing Arts, Former Additional Director General of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) and the President of State Drama Sub Commitee, Mrs. Chandani Senevirathne - Veteran actress.
Among the 7 dramas, which were nominated for the competition, "18th Birth Day”, performed by 1 SLAWC, was awarded the Best Drama. Pte AGMS Wickrama and Pte KM Pahathkubura were adjudged as the Best Supporting Actress and Actress with special talents respectively. Pte PI Pathirana, 7 SLAWC, was selected as the Best Actress.
