Information Leads to Recovery of 13 T-56 Weapons, Ammunition &;amp; Paraphernalia

Two large caches of LTTE arms and ammunition, micro pistols and other paraphernalia, kept buried under concrete pits in Kovilkulam and Samanalankulam in Vavuniya before LTTE terrorism was eliminated were found by troops during the weekend following tips-off received by Military Intelligence Corps.

Those recoveries, neatly concealed and kept packed in three plastic barrels, covering with a layer of coconut husks inside a five-feet deep concrete pit included 13 T-56 weapons, 47 T56 magazines, 5336 rounds of T-56 ammunition, a 9mm Pistol, 270 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 16 rounds of 38 ammunition, 19 rounds of FNC ammunition, 8 micro pistol magazines, 33 hand grenades, 5 pistol hoisters,  8 LTTE type pouches, 5 T-56 rifle slings, an Icom communication set, a compass, a pair of handcuffs, a UPS, a Computer CPU and a computer keyboard.
