Infected Spouse & Child of Army Officer Admitted for Treatment-NOCPCO

A Media Release issued this afternoon (2) by the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) at Rajagiriya stated the following:

Last evening (1), the individual who arrived from Karachchi on board the UL Flight 1186 of the Sri Lankan Airlines has been made to be in self-quarantine by health authorities.

A total of 291 individuals from Singapore have arrived in Sri Lanka this evening (2) at about 4.15 pm by Flight UL-303 of the Sri Lankan Airlines and they were to be directed to tri-service-managed Quarantine Centres for quarantine process. Six more individuals who underwent quarantining at the Navy-managed Nipuna Boossa Quarantine Centre (QC) after conduct of PCR tests on them left for their residences today (02) with Quarantine Certificates.

Accordingly, a total of 11,614 individuals quarantined in tri service-managed Quarantine Centres (QC) by today (02) have left for their homes. As of now, 4982 persons are still in quarantine in island-wide 44 QCs, run by tri services.

The spouse and the child of the COVID-19 infected Army Officer who performed duties recently at the Colombo International Airport were confirmed positive to COVID-19 on Monday (1) and were subsequently admitted to the hospital for treatment.

By today (02) at 0600 hrs, with two heroic sailors of the Navy confirmed positive to the COVID-19 virus, the total infected stands at 758.
