Indian Troops Leave Sri Lanka Following Successful Mitra Shakti Military Exercise

Indian troops left Sri Lanka on 25 August 2024, after successfully completing the 'Mithra Shakti' joint military exercise, aimed at enhancing regional security through cooperation between the Indo-Lankan armies.

The Indian contingent arrived Sri Lanka on 12 August 2024 and engaged in a 12-day exercise in Maduru Oya. The exercise focused on anti-terrorist war tactics, with both theoretical lectures and practical military drills. Participants from both Armies shared their experiences in modern warfare tactics and technology. To further strengthen ties, cultural and sports programs were also organized, fostering mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.

The Indian troops returned to India aboard an Indian Air Force plane. Major General S.W.B Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc, Director General Infantry, and Major General U.K.D.D.P Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc , Commander of the 59 Infantry Division and Director of the Exercise ‘Mitra Shakti X’, along with Senior Officers, were present during the departure, marking the successful conclusion of this important bilateral exercise.
