Indian Naval Delegation Visits Historic Sites in Polonnaruwa

THE visiting Indian Navy Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nirmal Verma during his five-day stay in Sri Lanka took time off to visit several places of historical importance in Polonnaruwa towards the latter part of his hectic itinerary.

The 14- member delegation, comprising Mrs Verma, visiting military delegates, Assistant High Commissioner for India, Defence Attache in High Commission, and several senior Naval officers in the Navy, was received on arrival there by Major General S. Udmalagala, Commander, Security Forces, East. The visiting naval Chief after a brief interaction with officers at the Security Forces Headquarters, East (SFHQ-E) left his signature on the VIP book at SFHQ office as a gesture of goodwill and memory. 

The delegation later on visited Polonnaruwa Gal Viharaya and the archaeological museum at Polonnaruwa.
