Indian High Commissioner HE Santosh Jha recently paid tribute to fallen war heroes of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) who served during operations against LTTE terrorists in Sri Lanka from 1987 to 1990. The solemn ceremony took place at the IPKF Monument in Palaly, Jaffna, on 17 February 2024.
Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF - J) welcomed the High Commissioner upon his arrival. Joined by Consulate General of India to Sri Lanka in Jaffna, Mr. Shri Raakesh Natraj, the High Commissioner laid floral wreaths in honor of the fallen soldiers.
Following the tribute, the High Commissioner and the Commander, SF - J engaged in a brief discussion. The event was organized by the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna in collaboration with the office of the Consulate General of India to Sri Lanka in Jaffna. Senior Officers, Officers, officials of the Consulate General of India to Sri Lanka and troops from both sides participated in the ceremony.
