Mrs Rita Vij, wife of the visiting Chief of Army Staff, Indian Army General N.C, Vij following an invitation extended by Mrs Sonia Kottegoda, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) met a representative gathering of the ASVU office-bearers at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday (2).
Mrs Kottegoda, Mrs Nilanthi Senevirathne, Mrs. Anoma Fonseka, Mrs. Sharee Mallawaarachchi, Mrs Nilamani Chandrapala, Mrs Kamani Wanigasekara and a number of ASVU members received the visiting guest warmly before she was accompanied to the Officers' Mess at the Headquarters premises where an ASVU organized reception to welcome her was held.
Brigadier M. A. M Peiris, Treasurer ASVU giving a brief account of the services being rendered by the ASVU, explained the ongoing developmental projects and welfare measures to the visiting lady.
The Army Band, very much popular for its \'Swan Dance,\' performance added colour and entertainment to this occasion of great significance.
The visiting delegate later on proceeded to the Ranaviru Sevana at Ragama where differently-able soldiers are housed.
