INDIAN CADETS CALL ON THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY

A team of Indian Cadets, who arrived in the island on 15 October 2003 paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General L.P Balagalle on Thursday (16th) evening at the Army Headquarters officers\' mess Colombo.

On the invitation of Major General (Retd) W.R Wijeratne, Director General, National Cadet Corps (NCC), 6 members of National Cadet Corps India led by Colonel R.R Gadkary, arrived here to take part in the Herman loos and De Zoysa Trophy competition camp, an annual event to judge merits of school cadets which will be held on 21 October 2003 at NCC Training Centre Rantambe.

Major General H.B Thibbotumunuwa, Captain Gopinath Sing, Defence Attache at Indian High Commission, Lieutenant Colonel P.C Rathnamalala, Major S.M.W.S Bandara and Major W.M.M Amaranatha Bandara from NCC were also present at the occasion.

During their stay here, they are scheduled to visit several places in the island.

They will leave for India on 22 October. 338, 342
