The newly-appointed 'Ranaviru Apparels' Commandant, Major General Shantha Rajakaruna assumed duties as the 5th Commandant on Tuesday (21) at the Ranaviru Apparels (RVPL) factory in Yakkala. He signed an official document amid religious blessings, to symbolize the assumption of duties.
The event was symbolized by him planting an Indian Gooseberry (Nelli) sapling in the camp premises. The simple ceremony culminated with refreshments.
Meanwhile, Officers and Other Ranks at the Ranaviru Apparels (RVAPL) jointly bade farewell to outgoing Major General Manjula Manatunga on Monday (20) on the eve of his relinquishment of the appointment as the Commandant, Ranaviru Apparels.
The outgoing Commandant was welcomed and honoured by the Deputy commandant together with all ranks in the camp premises before he was invited to address the gathering and share a few thoughts.
