Income Generating ‘Anthurium’ Cultivation Introduced to Kilinochchi

Intending to give a hand to raise economic prospects and living standards of poor civilians in Kilinochchi, 57 Division Headquarters with the support of the 574 Brigade and the 3 Gajaba Regiment troops held a workshop on ‘Cultivation of Anthurium Flowers’ on Sunday (3) for a record gathering of 400 civilians and 100 soldiers at the Nelum Piyasa auditorium in Kilinochchi.

Anthurium, a flower that could generate a good source of income is on much demand as a decorative element at weddings, functions, funerals, offerings, etc and can be grown during all seasons.

At the request of the 57 Division General Officer Commanding, Major General Vijitha Ravipriya, the Sound of Anthurium Institute with the sponsorship extended by ITN, Lake House, ‘Tharuni’ Newspaper, Unipower Company Limited and Marina Foods Company Limited, spearheaded the project.

Mrs. Yamika Gunawardena - Chairman Sound of Anthurium Pvt Ltd, Mr Sunil Premarathna - producer ITN, Karthika Nirochana - Central Bank Kilinochchi, Mr Edwin Suresh - SDB, Mr Malaka Nuwan - Goldy Advertising, Mrs Manoli Subasinghe - Editor Tharuni Newspaper, Mrs Niroshani Premarathne ATV Creation and 400 civilians from all around Kilinochchi and 100 soldiers attended the programme.
